On World Literacy Day "India is Us" supporting partner "HITACHI" in collaboration with "Tare Zameen Foundation" organized an Employee Engagement Program for underprivileged women and children.
In the program, "HITACHI" sewing machines were donated to underprivileged women to empower them, and educational kits will be distributed among children. Today, being able to sew can be an acclaimed vocational skill. Over the past decade, it has become an empowering tool for women in India, and a traditional craft. The Sewing Machine teaches underprivileged women the trade of tailoring which help them improve their family's financial situation and can come out of poverty.
In the end, TARE ZAMEEN FOUNDATION honors HITACHI with an appreciation award and souvenirs prepared by women of Tare Zameen Foundation.
